When I first ventured out into the blogosphere I felt quite daunted by the process. That’s why I decided to consult various sources on the topic. You see, I like to weigh up my options when tackling a new project as I don’t like to be unprepared.
Lucky for me there have been several articles written on blogging and lucky for you, I’m going to share them with you. So if you are considering starting your own blog, then check out the following tips below:
In July 2010’s edition of Cleo Magazine, Nikki Friedman from Bigwordsscareme.com gave her tips on creating a great blog. Here are some of her tips:
It is the ultimate advertisement and grabs the reader’s attention. But remember to follow through with relevant and well written content.
KEEP IT SHORT
Most people don’t have the time to read through pages and pages of content, so keep your posts to a minimum of 250 words.
Post frequently, but don’t compromise on quality.
GROW A THICK SKIN
Remember that the more popular your blog gets the meaner the comments tend to be. Don’t take the comments to heart.
Tim Magoon, SEO Corner Columnist gave a few suggestions on how to optimise your blog for search engines and help increase traffic to your site in the February 2010 edition of Personal Branding Magazine. He gives the following tips:
People search for the topics which they are interested in or wish to know more about. Often it is the current events or hot topics which drive a significant number of people to use search engines in order to obtain information. Therefore writing blog entries on these topics or events will direct traffic to your blog.
Make sure to target keywords in your posts, first in the title and then continue to use them throughout the copy, in the URL and in the tags. This builds a theme around the entry and gives you a better chance of ranking high on related keyword searches.
I hope these tips help.
